To give you an idea, 100 micron is about the width of a human hair. So you can't even really see any particles in your fluid that are 100 micron. In fact, 400 micron is about when they are becoming visible. So if you think your used vegetable oil is clean from visual inspection, you should still start with a 400 or at smallest, 200 micron filter to prevent clogging. Most oil needs at least that 400 micron strainer first, and preferably a 600 micron. These are meant to strain the oil before filtering. Filtering is for filter bags. DESCRIPTION 1.
