They subjected hydrogen samples to 1.2 megabar pressures. I do not believe metalic hydrogen was ever achieved. The Press could be well suited for: Closure device for high pressure isostatic press High Tonnage testing (destructive & nondestructive) High Pressure testing ( ceramic, synthetic diamonds and other research ) Machine Tool forging or hobbing application The press frame is fabricated from to slabs of forged high strengh alloy. There is a 5000 ton Hydraulic jack and related components mounted in the frame . 40 inch x 70 inch opening with 10 inches of stroke. This press has a small footprint for this high of tonnage. Press is curenly stored outdoors and may require reconditioning. Estimated weight 60,000 pounds. Loading and or trucking is available for a reasonable fee.
